McMillan joins FLYHT board

July 23, 2019  By Wings Staff

FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta, has added Captain Mary McMillan to its board of directors effective August 1, 2019, subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval, which will bring the total to nine members. McMillan is currently president of Cashel Aviation LLC as a subject matter expert and provider of safety and environmental consulting services to the aerospace industry.

“Mary brings a wealth of aviation experience and industry contacts to FLYHT and we are excited to add her to our very strong board of directors,” said Thomas Schmutz, CEO, FLYHT. “FLYHT first worked with Mary and her team in 2015 while she led the commercial launch of SwiftbroadBand-Safety at Inmarsat plc and conceptualized the Black Box in the Cloud initiative.”

In addition to her knowledge of aircraft safety and airline operations, FLYHT explains McMillan has a passion for environmental responsibility in aviation. “Beyond eco-fuels and more efficient aircraft engines, improving airline operational efficiency can provide significant cost savings by reducing fuel use and the resulting carbon-footprint of aviation in our environment,” said McMillan. “I believe FLYHT’s products support global environmental goals and can be enhanced to provide even more utility.”

Prior to joining FLYHT, McMillan retired from Inmarsat plc in 2018 where she served as VP, safety and operational services, leading a new division charged with delivering enhanced satcom to the cockpit. Prior to Inmarsat, she served as senior VP, aerospace safety and environment with Tetra Tech AMT, and VP of safety and environmental services division at CSSI Inc.
